Lily sat by the riverbank, munching away at a hunk of flame-roasted meat, courtesy of her friend Mallow. The large dragon lay a few feet away, enjoying her own meal. The girl chewed idly as she watched the dragon tear off huge pieces of her latest kill, raise her head and swallow almost immediately. The sight was fixating enough on its own, but even more so when you had first-hand experience of what was happening after the food slipped past those jaws and into the red abyss beyond.
Eating was one of the few things that Lily did outside of that “abyss”, preferring to masticate her food herself before it was covered in dragon saliva, so she tended to have Mallow cough her up and tear off a piece for her before the dragoness started eating. There was also the fact that Lily needed her food cooked, which didn’t result in a taste that Mallow particularly enjoyed, so it worked out better for both of them.
Their mealtimes tended to be quiet and quick. Naturally Mallow didn’t take long to finish, but she tried to take her time to keep Lily from feeling rushed, though the girl had become faster as she started to take after the dragoness in the way she tore into her portions. As she gnawed away, Mallow swallowed the last hunk of meat and dipped her snout into the nearby river to wash things down.
The dragoness took a moment to glance at Lily, who of course had been watching her cheerfully the whole time. Whether on purpose or not the dragon’s stomach growled faintly as its new contents settled. When she finished her drink she took to waiting, returning the girl’s gaze as she made progress on her relatively small piece of food. The dragoness seemed to grow bored, but a few moments later she suddenly perked up.
“You know, I’m still a bit hungry.”
Lily looked at her inquisitively as she chewed. The dragoness brought her tail around and used it to gently scoot the sitting child towards her, pushing Lily right up against her enormous scaled belly. Mallow looked away and gave a small, wry smile as her stomach growled again, much louder this time. That had definitely been on purpose.
“If only I had a little snack to fill me up…” Mallow continued, a clear playfulness in her voice.
Lily smiled as she swallowed another mouthful, catching on to what was happening. The dragoness looked around searchingly for a moment, and then set her sights on the girl as if she had just noticed her.
“Oh how lucky! The perfect little morsel to finish off my meal,” the dragoness said, bringing her head down to face the child.
“Oh no! A hungry dragon!” Lily feigned, “Take this, just please don’t eat me!” She held out the last bits of her meal in mock terror.
Mallow hadn’t expected the girl to join in so eagerly. She parted her jaws before the child, running her fire-red tongue lightly across her teeth. Lily tossed the tiny remnants of meat into the cavernous maw, doing a very convincing job of looking meek and frightened. The scrap of meat landed on the wet surface, seeming pitifully small. Nevertheless the dragoness’ tongue swelled to the roof of her mouth, pushing the offering to the back of her throat. It was so small that it didn’t even make a sound as it passed into the red abyss, right before the girl’s eyes.
“I just don’t think that will be enough…” Mallow said, slowly extending her tongue and flicking it over Lily’s body. She reached out her hand and pressed her fingers into the squishy appendage as it receded, breaking the act just a bit. “I think I’ll have to send you in after it,” the dragoness added.
Mallow eagerly snapped up the little girl in her maw, shifting her gently around on her tongue as her still-damp clothes became soaked with fresh saliva. The dragoness proceeded to slowly wrap her tongue all the way around the child, savoring her taste. She heard Lily giggle faintly from inside. After a while Mallow relaxed, letting the girl lay flat on the lightly quivering surface.
“Oh please Miss Dragon, don’t swallow me up,” Lily called from within.
Well that settled things. Mallow pressed the girl to the roof of her mouth, pushing her to the back of her throat just like the scrap she had been fed earlier. With a wet gulp she was sent over the edge, plunging into the darkness, constantly carried along by the waves of the dragon’s throat.
“No! Oh no! Please don’t!” Lily called, not at all sounding convincing anymore- in fact she sounded like she was fighting off giggles. She continued to yell until she disappeared into the dragon’s chest. Mallow felt her arrive in her stomach and the girl suddenly went silent… that is for about five seconds until they both broke into laughter.
Of course it should come as no surprise to anyone who has followed these stories that Lily was now safely tucked away in her pouch; a little pocket of Mallow’s stomach kept free of acid and separated from the dragoness’ recent meal.
Lily looked around her cozy enclosure, illuminated by the small orb of light that floated nearby. The pale-pink walls undulated in greeting, both to her and to their other new contents. Looking down, the girl noticed something by her feet. She reached out and picked up a familiar scrap of meat, the leftovers she had given to Mallow before she was swallowed.
She saved it for me, Lily realized. She must be getting really good at moving her insides around if she can save something this small. The girl smiled, but to be honest the meat didn’t look too appetizing now that it was covered in mucus, and she had already had her fill anyway. She walked over to the lip of her pouch and looked down into the churning pit of digestive juices not too far below. Lily threw the scrap lightly into the dragon’s stomach and watched as it hit the surface of the pool and disappeared into the depths, melting away into Mallow’s body.
You deserved it, she thought with a smile.
